Tete-a-tete KPM Berlin website

A unique Tete-a-tete service made to order at Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur Berlin around 1880. Karl-Heinz Bröhan in the book "Porzellan-Kunst. Teil 2: Berliner Porzellane vom Kunst-Porzellane und Keramik um 1900. " claims that the prototype was designed by Friedrich Elias Meyer in the second half of the 18th century.
The service consists of a tray 42 cm long and 31 cm wide. The tray with rocail handles has 80 radiating plastic fields separated by a line of violet color. In the mirror in the central part, in a gilded eight-leaf reserve, a painted Watteau scene. Above and below the Watteau stage there are gilded reserves and in the center hand-painted flower reliefs. On the left and right, three reliefs of flower shrubs, also painted.
Pear-shaped coffee pot with a volute-shaped handle and a spout-shaped spout. Dome cap with a knob. Multicolored painting decoration. On its perimeter, the jug has 32 plastic fields separated by a line of violet color. In the upper part, on both sides, gilded reserves and in the middle - painted flower reliefs, under each of them a large painted relief of a bush with flowers. The height of the jug with a lid is about 20 cm.
