The Nymphenburg porcelain factory has its origins in the Bavarian elector Maksymilian III J\u00f3zef Wittelsbach, who after taking power in 1745 supported the creation of manufactories that were to enrich the state treasury. From 1747, attempts were made to produce porcelain in Bavaria at the Neudeck castle in Munich. Until 1754, the attempts failed, bringing only losses. It was not until November 3 that year that the sculptor-figure designer Franz Anton Bustelli was engaged and the production technology was mastered. The following year, the electoral court commissioned the first order. In 1761 the workshop received a new headquarters in a building designed by Joseph Effner in the Nymphenburg castle. Bustelli's successors, Dominik Auliczek senior and Johann Peter Melchior contributed to the flourishing of the workshop. In 1765 it already employed 187 people. The King of Bavaria Ludwik I Wittelsbach awarded many orders for services with copies of famous paintings. In 1810, Anton Auer was commissioned to transfer the royal gallery to a porcelain service. Christian Adler, also the son of Anton Auer, became the chief painter in 1815. From 1822 Friedrich von G\u00e4rtner was appointed artistic director. In the mid-nineteenth century, the manufacture declined, and in 1856 the production of artistic porcelain ceased. In 1862, the manufacture was leased and its products limited to technical and sanitary porcelain. Albert B\u00e4uml (1855\u20131929) leased the workshop in 1887 with the intention of restoring its former splendor. At the beginning of the 20th century, next to the historical porcelain copy, services in the style of Art Nouveau were produced. After the death of Albert B\u00e4um, the manufacture was conducted by his three sons, in the years 1975-2011 the Bavarian government leased the manufacture to the Wittelsbach fund, and from October 1, 2011, the manufacture was taken over by Prince Luitpol Bawarskidwi. The Nymphenburg porcelain factory is one of the most outstanding factories of its kind in the world, along with the factories in Meissen and Sevr.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
