Painting by Adriaen van Diest 17th century original Crazy!
He was born in The Hague in 1655, the son of Jeronim van Diest, a painter of nautical objects from whom he was instructed in this field. When he was seventeen he moved to London, where he was employed by Granville, Earl of Bath, for whom he painted several views and ruins in the West of England. His paintings, especially landscapes, are of great value; as proof of this, Horace Walpole states that there were seven paintings by Van Diesta in Sir Peter Lely's collection. He etched several landscapes according to his own projects, in a light, masterly style. Van Diest died in London in 1704. [1]
