Additional Description
Only a handful of works by this Czech artist are known, all in public collections, three landscapes and two still paintings, and the present painting is her earliest known work;
Others are Landscape with a Church, 1819 (National Gallery, Prague), Beachscene, 1824 (British Government Art Collection (British Embassy Prague, Czech Republic), Vast Landscape, 1824 (National Gallery, Prague), Still Life with a Lizard and flowers, 1826 (National Gallery in Prague), Vast landscape, 1829 (Rudolphinum, Prague, gift from the artist 1835) and Still Life with Grapes, 1842 (National Gallery, Prague).
In 1801, she married Franz Vincenz Altgrafen Salm-Reifferscheid-Hainspach (1744-1842). Throughout her life, she was active at the court of Vienna as a waiting lady for the Empress of Austria. According to Archiv für Geschichte, 1824, p. 378, she was considered a talented artist, specializing in landscapes. In 1826, she exhibited a landscape at the annual Prague exhibition, which was very well received, especially appreciated for its sophisticated colors.
